I seriously can’t get over how PAINED Stannis looks when Shireen tells him Davos is her friend.

Did the Onion Knight come back with you?

One of the things that people are completely forgetting is how Stannis talks about Davos in the scene with Shireen. Because before she says she wants to see him and Stannis goes and says “he’s a traitor”, Stannis actually smiles and tells her that “he fought bravely”. And then he goes and looks for the longest time at the little boat Davos made Shireen (did I mention that this is just the cutest thing on the face of the Earth? He made her a toy and she kept the toy).
So if this isn’t proof enough for show viewers that Stannis cares deeply for Davos and still respects him and is killing him to have him in a dungeon I don’t know what it is.
Davos looking at Shireen while she teaches him how to read.
NO BUT I WANT GIFS OF HOW DAVOS LOOKS AT SHIREEN WHILE SHE’S TELLING AEGON’S STORY.
He’s not looking at the letters or at the book he’s looking at her and he’s smiling and he really likes her and it’s so..

One of my favourite kinks now is one where Stannis is almost being killed by Ramsey in battle but Davos appears and kills Ramsey instead with a little dagger or something.

“So the sea has returned me my knight of the fish and onions.”
#no i hate this quote let me tell you why i hate this quote #all his life the sea has been stealing things from stannis baratheon #it took his parents when he was a boy #and it held him prisoner when he was a man #except for once something returns and it’s davos of all things #davos who means so much #davos who has always brought life along with him #FUCK THIS OK FUCK THIS
OMG Are you satan?
I’m actually gaping at this.
I swear I never thought of this before.
Oh fuck. Fuck. FUCK.

I really, really love Davos’s quote in his Storm of Swords chapter. When he’s on that rock and they ask him, when they find him, who he is. And his answer goes in line with everything he thought before because Davos decides he wants - he needs - to live because of Stannis, because of his King, because of his family and because of his Gods. But it’s Stannis who’s there first and foremost and it’s him he thinks about when they ask him:
You,” the fifth man called out when they were only a few feet from his island, “you up on the rock. Who are you?”
A smuggler who rose above himself, thought Davos, a fool who loved his king too much, and forgot his gods.
